Rava fried mushroom or mushroom rava fry is a Goan mushroom recipe in which mushrooms are marinated with spice powders, coated with spiced semolina and rice flour and shallow fried. This Goan mushroom appetizer recipe is very easy to cook and can be served for lunch or dinner.

Rava Fried Mushroom

In goa, we make different types of rava fried dishes. For the vegetarians we make recipes like onion rava fry, lady finger rava fry and taro root rava fry and for the non-vegetarian we make recipes with fish like mackerel rava fry, pomfret rava fry, prawns rava fry, chicken rava fry, etc.

This mushroom shallow fry recipe can be easily made with simple ingredients available at home. If rice flour is not available, you may just coat the marinated mushroom with rava or semolina.

You might be interested in other mushroom recipes like mushroom pepper fry, mushroom xacuti and mushroom chilli.

Some Goans don’t eat fish on certain weekdays and on those days, they make rava fried dishes as an appetizer with lunch. That is the reason why you will find most of the vegetables being rava fried in Goa.

Some more rava fried recipes which you can try are:

  • Yam rava fry
  • Raw banana rava fry
  • Brinjal rava fry
  • Bread fruit rava fry
  • Baby corn rava fry
  • Ridge gourd rava fry
  • Potato rava fry
