Fish Roast

Fish roast is a spicy fish recipe made with seer fish. The fish recipe can be made with easily available ingredients and tastes so good. It can be prepared for lunch or dinner as a side dish.

Let us see the ingredients that go in making spicy fish roast:

  • Fish: Seer fish is used in this spicy fish recipe. You can even use king fish or any firm fish.

For marination: I have marinate the seer fish with simple masalas like red chili powder, turmeric powder and salt.

  • Vegetables: Vegetables like red onions, tomato and capsicum or bell pepper are used in this easy fish recipe.
  • Spices: Spice powders like red chili powder, turmeric powder and black pepper powder are used along with ginger paste and garlic paste.
  • Curry leaves: Few curry leaves are added in this recipe. The curry leaves make the recipe aromatic.

How to make easy and delicious fish masala roast?

  • Marinate the fish with the ingredients meant for marination โ€“ that is chili powder, turmeric powder and salt. Keep aside atleast for 30 minutes.
  • Chop the onions and tomatoes into small pieces.
  • Cut the capsicum length-wise.
  • Heat 1/4 cup oil in a large kadai.
  • Fry the marinated fish for sometime till the fish gets slightly cooked. Remove and keep aside.
  • In the same oil, add ginger-garlic paste and saute for 2 minutes.
  • Add onions and saute with little salt till it turns translucent.
  • Add chilli powder, black pepper powder and turmeric powder and mix well.
  • Next, add tomatoes, green chilli and curry leaves & cook till tomatoes turn mushy.
  • Add capsicum and fry till capsicum gets cooked.
  • Now add the fried fish & mix gently. Take care not to break the fish.
  • Cook for atleast 15-20 minutes on low flame.

Notes to keep in mind while making this delicious fish stir fry:

  • The spice level can be adjusted by increasing/decreasing the quantity of red chili powder and black pepper powder.

How to serve fish roast recipe?

  • Fish roast can be served as a side dish with steamed rice or jeera rice. It can also be served with Indian breads like roti, chapati, phulka or naan.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Kg or 5-6 pieces seer fish
  • 1/4 cup oil

For marination:

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For Roast:

  • 2 medium sized onions finely chopped
  • 2 medium sized large tomato finely chopped
  • 1/2 capsicum cut lengthwise
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon pepper powder
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 10 curry leaves
