Strawberry sheera also known as strawberry kesari is a delicious Indian dessert made with strawberry pulp and rava or semolina. This sooji halwa with strawberry can be served for breakfast or evening snacks or simply as desserts after a meal. Find step by step pictures and video to make strawberry pudding Indian.

sooji halwa with strawberry

In South India, sheera is known as kesari and in North India sheera is known as halwa. Since it is made from rava or sooji, it is known as sooji halwa. This strawberry and sooji halwa is easy to prepare just like mango and sooji halwa.

This is a preservative free strawberry pudding recipe. No artificial colors or flavors are added in this strawberry sheera recipe. Some people add store bought strawberry syrup, but I did not add it. The sugar quantity can be altered as per taste and sweetness of strawberries.

Let us see the ingredients which go in making strawberry sheera or strawberry kesari:

  • Rava: Rava also known as sooji or semolina is the main ingredient in this sheera recipe. You can use any type of rava like chiroti or normal sooji.
  • Strawberry pulp: Use fresh, unblemished strawberries to extract strawberry pulp. Just cut the stem, chop into pieces, and then add to mixer to make smooth strawberry puree. Do not add water.
  • Ghee: Ghee or clarified butter is added in this recipe. Do not replace ghee with oil.
  • Sugar: Sugar is added for sweetness. The quantity can be altered as per sweetness of strawberries.
  • Dry fruits: Few dry fruits like broken cashewnuts and raisins are added to this halwa to make it rich and nutritious.
  • Cardamom pods: Few cardamom pods are peeled and crushed and then added to this strawberry sweet dish.

How to make strawberry desserts like strawberry halwa:

  • Chop strawberries into small pieces.
  • Add the chopped strawberries to a blender and make puree. Keep it aside.
  • Heat a kadai and add ghee.
  • Add raisins and cashewnuts and fry. After raisins puff and cashewnuts turn brownish, remove and keep aside.
  • Add rava in the same kadai and roast till aroma wafts in air.
  • Add 1 teaspoon ghee and sugar and mix well.
