sooji ki kheer

Rava Kheer or suji ki kheer or sooji ki kheer or rava payasam also known as ravo recipe in Konkani is a quick and easy kheer recipe made with ingredients easily available at home. This kheer made from semolina is a rava milk pudding and is perfect during the fasting days or great to have when we are on liquid diet.

rava kheer

When to have this rava kheer or ravo recipe:

This ravo recipe is a drink which we normally make when we are down with fever or when we cannot eat normal food like rice or rotis. In other words, when we make this sooji recipe when we are on liquid diet.

In Goa we normally make this ravo recipe after a tooth extraction as rava or semolina is easy to digest, and we donโ€™t need to chew it. Few years back when I had my wisdom tooth extracted, I was on liquid diet. This rava kheer was one of the liquid options on which I survived.

It is also good to have this when we have sore throat as drinking hot suji ki kheer gives instant relief to the aching throat.

Even after delivery of a baby, new mothers drink this rava kheer as it is known to increase the production of breast milk and give strength to the new mom. Even small babies can be given this kheer after the baby turns 10 months old. This is a simple dish. Addition of elaichi or cardamom powder makes this kheer really yummy and does not taste like medicine or something which you are forced to eat.
