I always prefer cooking food at home. That is because I want my family to eat healthy and stay healthy. Hence every week I buy lots of fruits and vegetables. One day I saw a video on Facebook that watermelons were getting injected with some chemical. That was the day when I understood that in today’s world almost everything is adulterated. But then if I don’t purchase those fruits and vegetables or fish and meat, what will my family eat?
Then we decided to purchase organic fruits and vegetables. But getting them to my house was a real problem as we are free only on weekends and we have lots of things to do. Right from doing the laundry, to taking the kids homework, to helping them do the assignments to purchasing weekly grocery… the 2 days in the weekend are never enough.
Just then I came across Nirvanabox.in which sells organically grown fruits, vegetables and grocery. Their approach is different. They have specially designed boxes which we can subscribe to. These boxes are then delivered to our door-step weekly, fortnightly or monthly. If we are not at home and want them delivered elsewhere, they take care of it that too which is a plus point. And the boxes are designed after consultation with nutritionists. The boxes are designed in such a way that they fit all family size requirements.
When you log into Nirvanabox.in, you first need to enter your pincode and check if they deliver to your place. If they deliver then a green pop up gets displayed indicating that they do deliver. Then you can check whichever box you want to subscribe to.
They have the following boxes:
Fruit & Veg box, Salad & Juice box, Exotic Box, Breakfast Box, Grocery Box, Gift Box, Detox Box , Health Box ,Diabetic Box ,Meat & Fish Box, Regional Box
You can also customize the boxes as per your need. For e.g. if you don’t need a particular type of vegetable/fruit or item, you can replace it with another. Offcourse the prices will change after alteration of boxes. They deliver only fresh, ripe and ready to pick fruits and vegetables from their fields. The source of these fruits and vegetables can be found on their website. All the information is transparent.
If you are not happy with the quality of a particular item, you can check it then and there and report to their delivery person and they will replace the product for you. All their products are FSSAI certified as mentioned in their website.
You can also order loose grocery products from their website. Like if you want ketchup, you can order that, but you first need to order a box and along with it place the order for extra items.
My Experience:
I had ordered the Mini fruit & veg box from Nirvanabox.in. The box contained the following:
All the vegetables and fruits were segregated and neatly packed in plastic bags. The amaranth leaves were fresh and neatly packed. Since the vegetables were packed in plastic bags, I just made some holes on the bag and stored the vegetables in the fridge as I want to use them over the week. The fruits went to the fruit basket on my dining table. At least on the weekend I did not have to worry about the hectic grocery shopping. I could instead spend time with my family. 🙂
I made the following recipe for my family.
Oven Roasted Cauliflower:
The cauliflower was so fresh and clean that I felt like cooking something delicious with it. I have been making this dish since a long time, but today I thought I should make this and blog about it. It was loved by everyone in my home, specially the little one. So this is another recipe which you can pack for your kids snack box or simply roast and serve it as a starter during your meal time.
Ingredients: Prep. Time: 30 Min’s, Serves: 4
1 cauliflower chopped into florets
2 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
2 tablespoon garlic, finely chopped
3 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon black pepper power
Salt to taste
1 cauliflower chopped into florets
2 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
2 tablespoon garlic, finely chopped
3 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon black pepper power
Salt to taste
Procedure:
1) In a mixing bowl, add oil, chopped garlic, ginger garlic paste, black pepper powder, Italian seasoning and salt to taste and mix well.
2) Add the chopped cauliflower florets and mix well. Ensure that the cauliflower are well coated with the spice mix.
3) Pre-heat the oven at 200C for 5 Min’s.
4) Line the baking tray with parchment paper and spread the cauliflower on the baking tray.
5) Bake this in “Bake” mode for 10 Min’s.
6) Take it out, mix again and bake it in “broil “mode for another 10 Min’s.
7) When you change to broil mode, move the baking tray to upper rack.
DO you do this in a traditional OTG or a microwave?
I used OTG. But you can use microwave too.
