Wheat flour bhakri with vegetables is a healthy breakfast flat-bread recipe and is also known as wheat flour chilla. Vegetables like tomato, capsicum and onion are added to make this atta chilla nutritious. This is an easy recipe to make fussy eaters eat vegetables. Takes only 20 minutes to make this wheat chilla ready and hence is a perfect recipe for breakfast.

Wheat flour bhakri with vegetables

In Goa, this flat-bread is also known as bhakri. I have added vegetables in this bhakri recipe. We also make wheat flour sweet chilla which is also a delicious Goan breakfast recipe. Some people also make wheat flour dosa with the same bhakri or chilla batter but by adding little more water to the same wheat flour chilla recipe. Try out other breakfast recipes too.

Ingredients to make whole wheat Indian flat bread with vegetables:

  • Flour: I have used whole wheat flour in this easy breakfast recipe to make it healthy.
  • Vegetables: Red onion, tomato and capsicum are added in this wheat cheela recipe.
  • Spice powders: Turmeric powder, cumin seeds and red chili powder is added to provide the right amount of spice needed to make this breakfast bhakri tasty and delicious.
  • Coriander leaves: Few chopped coriander leaves are added for garnishing this flat-bread recipe.

How to make wheat flour chilla for breakfast?

To make this Indian style wheat flour flat bread, simply mix whole wheat flour in water and make a thick lump free batter. Then mix the chopped vegetables in it. Spread this on a greased frying pan and fry it on both sides.

The healthy bhakri or cheela gets cooked within 20 minutes. You can serve this bhakri with chutney of your choice or have it plain. This also makes a great option for the lunch/snack box.

Tips to make wheat flour chilla:

  • Always cook this breakfast recipe on low flame.
  • Grated carrot and carrom seeds can also be added.
  • Instead of oil, ghee can be used.
  • If batter becomes thin and watery, add wheat flour little at a time to make it thicker.
