Mixed Sprouts Sandwich

Mixed sprouts sandwich is a healthy and easy sandwich with sprouts. Sprouts masala sandwich is a healthy sandwich recipe in which different types of sprouts like mung bean sprouts, kidney bean sprouts, black Kabuli chana sprouts and red lentil sprouts are stir fried and added as sandwich filling. Sprouts is good for weight loss and this sandwich with sprouts is one of the option which you can add to your weight loss diet.

Sprouts sandwich benefits:

Sprouts are rich in protein and dietary fiber. They also contain plenty of vitamins and minerals and are extremely good for health. Add sprouts to your daily meal menu and move one step closer to good health. Make this sandwich with sprouts and either eat it for breakfast or as quick evening snacks. Pack it and take it to office to munch during the breaks.

What are the ingredients used in making mixed masala sprouts sandwich?

  • Sprouts: Different types of mixed sprouts can be used in this healthy sandwich recipe. I have used mung bean sprouts, kidney bean sprouts, black Kabuli chana sprouts and red lentil sprouts in this recipe. You can also add alfalfa sprouts and rajma sprouts or pea sprouts.
  • Vegetables: Vegetables like onion and tomato are used in this recipe.
  • Bread: Any type of slice bread or sandwich bread can be used in this recipe. I prefer using brown bread or whole wheat or multi grain bread to make healthy breakfast sandwich.
  • Spices: Spices like chaat masala, turmeric powder and red chili powder are used in this recipe. Chaat masala is optional. Turmeric powder and red chili powder can be found in any Indian grocery store.
  • Garlic: I have added garlic in this recipe. This is an optional ingredient.
  • Coriander leaves: These are finely chopped and added while making the sandwich filling.
  • Oil: Any type of cooking oil can be used to make this healthy recipe.

How to make best sprouts sandwich recipe?

First let us make the sandwich filling:

  1. Add the sprouts and 1 cup water to a pressure cooker and pressure cook for 1 whistle.
    Switch off and let the pressure get released. If pressure cooker is not available, just boil the sprouts in sufficient water.
  2. Heat a kadai and add oil. When oil gets heated, add onion and saute.
  3. When onion turns pinkish add tomato and fry till tomato turns mushy.
  4. Add garlic and fry till the raw smell of garlic goes away.
  5. Mix the boiled sprouts.
  6. Add the spices like red chili powder, turmeric powder and chaat masala and mix well.
  7. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  8. Adjust salt and switch off the heat.
  9. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Let us assemble the sandwich.

  1. Take a slice of bread and spread 2 tablespoon of the sprout mixture.
  2. Top this with one or two onion slices.
  3. Close it with another slice of bread.

Either eat the sandwich as it is or grill it. The choice is yours.

Ingredients

  • 4 bread slices sides cut
  • ยผ cup green grams/moong sprouts
  • ยผ cup red lentils/sabut masoor sprouts
  • ยผ cup kidney beans/rajma sprouts
  • ยผ cup black kabuli chana sprouts
  • 1 medium sized onion finely chopped
  • 1 medium sized onion finely sliced โ€“ used while assembling the sandwich
  • 1 medium sized tomato finely chopped
  • 4 garlic pods finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon chat masala
  • ยฝ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoon coriander leaves chopped
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • To taste salt

Instructions

First let us make the sandwich filling:
