This is the perfect dessert to serve for any occasions like New Yearโ€™s party or any upcoming parties like birthdays and family get-togethers. This chocolate caramel pudding or chocolate flan is perfect for any type of happy celebrations.

Creme Chocolate caramel

Creme caramel is also known as flan or creme custard. Sugar is melted to caramel stage and then custard made with milk, eggs and sugar is poured over over it. This is then cooked in an oven or water bath. It is turned and served chilled.

I used to make the creme caramel recipe, but decided to give a twist by adding some chocolate powder to it. The chocolate cream caramel turned out delicious and my family loved every bite of it. Check out more on wiki.

Milk โ€“ I have used cowโ€™s milk to make this recipe. I have not used condensed milk or slim milk in this recipe.

Eggs โ€“ Eggs add richness to puddings and also makes them thick. I have not added any other type of thickener to his chocolate creme caramel pudding recipe.

Chocolate powder โ€“ I have added chocolate powder. You can even add semi-sweet chocolate to the recipe by melting it.

Sugar โ€“ Sugar adds the right amount of sweetness for this chocolate dessert.

We will make caramel in a pressure cooker utensil and use the same utensil with caramel to the pudding.

  1. Warm the pressure cooker utensil and spread 1 tablespoon sugar on it. Let the sugar melt on low heat. Be careful while making caramel, donโ€™t burn it.
  2. Spread the melted sugar around by slightly shaking the utensil. Let it cool down. When it cools it will become hard.

  1. Take a mixing bowl and break the eggs. Whisk nicely.
  2. Add sugar and stir till sugar dissolves.
  3. Pour in cold milk and stir.
  4. Add powdered chocolate little at a time and mix well. Ensure that no lumps are formed.
  5. Add a pinch of salt and mix.

  8. Take a steamer and add water in it and switch on the heat. When bubbles start appearing, place the utensil with caramel and pudding inside it and steam for 35 to 40 minutes.
  9.  You can even steam it in a pressure cooker without keeping the whistle for 35 minutes.
  10. After 35 minutes, take out the pudding container from the cooker and let it cool down completely.
  11. Keep it in refrigerator, let it get chilled.
  12. Before serving, run a table knife around the edges of the container. Then place a plate over the container and invert it. Tap gently on the container after inverting so that the pudding comes out nicely.
