Rava fried potato can also be called as semolina coated potato which is shallow fried. Rava fried potato is known as batata kappa or batata fodi in Konkani and is a traditional delicacy. In Konkani potato is known as batat. On the veg days like Monday or Thursday, people just fry some potato fodi by coating in rava and serve them with rice, vodyache aam and kokum kadi.
Kids love potato kapa. My kid used to call rava fried potato as veg fish. We Goans make potato fodi and serve them with rice and kokum kadi.
The recipe is very simple to make. You just have to peel the potatoes and slice them. Coat them with chili powder, turmeric powder and salt and keep aside for 10 minutes. Take the ingredients meant for coating that is rava (semolina), rice flour, spice powders and salt. Mix the ingredients together. Apply this coating to the marinated potatoes. Shallow fry them on low flame.
