You can easily make these potato wedges in air fryer with ingredients easily available in the pantry. You can even experiment with the seasonings. The potato wedges can be served as a side dish with any meal of your choice. They are also an easy party snack which will quickly get ready inside the air fryer basket even at the last minute and you can serve them hot in the spot.

Ingredients used for making crispy air fryer potato wedges:

  • Potato: Use firm, fresh potatoes to make these crispy fried potato wedges.
  • Seasoning: I have used black pepper powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, grated parmesan, and salt. The quantity of seasonings can be altered slightly as per taste.
  • Oil: Olive oil is used in this recipe.
  • Garnish: For garnish I have used parsley. You can also add a slice of lemon for garnish.

Step by step instructions to make the best air fryer potato wedges:

  • Wash the potatoes and peel them. You may even retain the peel as it has lots of nutrition, but I decided to peel the potato.
  • Cut the potatoes lengthwise into half and then cut them into wedges.
  • Soak them in water for 20 minutes. This removes the starch and helps make the fries crispy. Pat dry using paper towel after soaking and before adding the seasoning.
  • In a mixing bowl, add the potato wedges, garlic powder, black pepper powder, parsley, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, salt, olive oil and toss well.
  • Spray the air fryer with oil or coat the base of air fryer basket with little olive oil.
  • Place the potato wedges in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 20 minutes at 200C or 392 F.
  • After every 5 minutes, open the air fryer basket, shake it, and spread evenly.
  • Serve hot with ketchup or red chili sauce or any sauce that you like.

Why do we soak potato in water before air frying?

Soaking potato wedges or slices in water before frying or air frying helps to remove the starch and thus makes the fries crispy. The starch makes it difficult to make crispy potato wedges after air frying.

Variations to bake potato in air fryer:

You can bake a whole potato in an air fryer, you can even chop into cubes or slice and fry them. For the air fried potato wedges, you can try different seasoning like adding 1 teaspoon paprika or Cajun seasoning. You can also try adding a teaspoon of oregano.

I just bought a bag of frozen wedges that look almost exactly like yours…with the intent on air frying them. But I think your recipe is delicious and worth a try. Maybe it will replace my favourite frozen wedges.
