Breadfruit rava fry is a traditional Goan breadfruit recipe, in which breadfruit is sliced, marinated with spice powders, coated with rava and shallow fried. This breadfruit fry is served as a side dish in the Goan cuisine. Breadfruit also known as neerpanas or neerphanas is available during the summer season. Konkanis in Karnataka call this recipe as jeev kadgi phodi or jeevkadgi podi.

Breadfruit vs jackfruit

Some people always confuse between breadfruit and jackfruit. Though both look similar in appearance, they are 2 completely different fruits. Let us see some differences between the two. Breadfruit and jackfruit are completely different in appearance from inside.

Breadfruit interior is starchy cream to yellow texture similar to potato and cannot be eaten raw. Jackfruit on the other hand has yellow bulbs which can be eaten raw. Also, jackfruit has spikes on its outer skin whereas breadfruit may or may not have spikes. Another difference is breadfruit is a vegetable, but jackfruit is a fruit.
