Crispy Rawa Fried Pumpkin Buds

Wishing you all a wonderful New Year 2014.ย This post was supposed to be posted in Oct 2013 when I had gone to Goa during Navaratri vacation. But I was too busy with personal and professional life and was not able to post this.
One day my brother got Pumpkin buds as my Dad loves the fried once. My Dad being a pure vegetarian, loves all types of exotic veges. My Mom cooks veg food for my Dad with lots of love. I too learnt the same from my Mom to cook food for my hubby with love ๐Ÿ™‚
Rawa Fried Pumpkin buds is a traditional recipe from Goa and it is being cooked in most of the Saraswat (GSB) house-holds. It tastes yumm and best served crispy and hot as an accompaniment with rice or just as snacks.

Ingredients:
10-15 yellow Pumpkin Buds
1 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. turmeric powder
ยผ tsp. salt
Oil for frying

For the coating the Pumpkin buds:
ยฝ cup rawa / semolina
ยผ cup rice flour
ยฝ tsp. chili powder
ยผ tsp. salt

Procedure:
1) Mix rawa, rice flour, chilly powder and salt and keep aside.
Wash the pumpkin buds and cut into 2 halves. Cut the stem. If they are too small, then do not cut into 2 halves but use as they are.

Apply chilly powder, turmeric powder and salt to the buds and keep aside for 5-10 Min’s.

2) Coat the buds in the rawa.
3) Now take the frying pan, heat it and spread 1 tbsp. oil on it.

4) And arrange the rawa coated pumpkin buds on the frying pan one by one. Spread 1-2 tablespoon oil on top of the rawa coated pumpkin buds.
After 10 Min’s, flip to the other side and fry for another 10-15 Min’s.

Note: Tastes great when crispy.
The pictures mention as Pumpkin flowers, but they are Pumpkin Buds. I edited and saved the pictures in Picassa and later realised that I mentioned flowers. Hope that’s fine ๐Ÿ™‚
