Fresh and juicy prawns are marinated in spicy masala and then coated with semolina and shallow fried to perfection on low flame. Serve them as a party starter or serve them as a side dish with rice and curry. Rava Fried Prawns is a mouth-watering dish. This dish is very simple to cook and awesome in taste. In Goa, we cook prawns fry almost every day. If no prawns are available, we make fish rava fry. We Goans love fish, specially sea fish.

Prawns rava fry

The prawns that I make in my kitchen turns very tasty and juicy. Care should be taken not to over-cook them. Else they will turn rubbery. The bad smell of the prawns goes off if they are cleaned and marinated properly with turmeric powder and salt.

How to marinate prawns for making prawns recipe:

  1. Wash and deshell the prawns/shrimps. Remove the black thread from the prawns.
  2. Apply turmeric powder, red chili powder or paprika and salt to prawns and keep it in fridge for around 30 minutes.

Ingredients to make crispy prawns fry:

  1. Prawns/Shrimps: I have used medium sized prawns in this recipe.
  2. Masala powders: Turmeric powder and red chili powder or paprika is applied to the prawns for marination. Turmeric powder removes the fish smell and chili powder adds spiciness to the recipe.
  3. Semolina: Semolina is also known as rava in India. This is used to coat prawns.
  4. Rice flour: Rice flour is also used to coat prawns before shallow frying.
