Tangy Bhendi Masala Gravy

Sometimes I feel bored to eat the same type of curry. I myself want something different. In my fridge there were some bhendis. I also had some chopped tomatoes and onions. Sometimes I keep this ready and this serves as a time saver. I really did not want the regular bhendi subzi. Just then I thought of doing something different. Yes, believe me, I did not refer to any recipe on the Internet. Just went around doing whatever my mind told me to do.

I first fried the chopped bhendis separately. Then I tried to innovate further. When I took this gravy for photoshots, my hubby looked at it from a distant and said ” Hey that looks yummy”. This was after a long time that I had innovated something in my kitchen. My hubby said ” Welcome Back! Raksha’s Kitchen is waiting for your innovations”.

The gravy turned absolutely yummy and was over within no time. It was really a long time that I had cooked something with love and I strongly believe that food cooked with a dash of love turns lovable ๐Ÿ™‚

Ingredients:
1/4 kg bhendi/ladyfingers
1 big onion chopped fine
2 tomatoes chopped fine
1 tablespoon fresh ginger-garlic paste
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
1 teaspoon black pepper powder
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon garam masala
2 tablespoon oil
Salt to taste

Procedure:

Cut the ladyfingers/bhendis into halt and make 1/2 – 1 inch pieces.

In a kadai/wok, add 1 tablespoon oil and heat it for 2 Min’s. Now fry the onions till they turn pinkish. Once this is done, add the ginger garlic paste and fry till the raw smell of garlic goes off. Then add chopped tomatoes and fry till they turn mushy. Switch off the gas. Let this cool and grind this to a paste by adding 1/4 glass water.

Now the kadai will be empty as the contents have been grinded in a mixie. In the same kadai, add 2 tablespoon oil and fry the choppedย bhendi or ladyfingers till they are completely fried. Add more oil if needed.
Now add the gravy to the bhendis and then add the powders and mix everything properly.
Add salt to taste and fry for another 5-8 Min’s.
Serve with rotis or bread. Serve with lot’s of love ๐Ÿ™‚
