GIFT A WISH Initiative By SPAR

I saw some posts on social media about #SeasonofJoy – GIFT A WISH initiative by SPAR and became super curious about it. So this weekend, I thought of visiting SPAR Hypermarket. I usually do my weekly grocery shopping there and thought that it is also a good chance to check out the #SeasonofJoy – GIFT A WISH initiative too.

SPAR Hypermarket was set up in India in 2007. Currently, they have 18 hypermarket stores in India across 8 cities namely Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Mangalore, Delhi, Ghaziabad and Gurugram. It is well known for the availability of Gourmet foods, its associations with local farmers & offering their produce in the stores and technology for a great in-store experience by its customers.

SPAR is running this wonderful initiative wherein they have collaborated with an NGO named SOS Children’s Villages of India. This is a 68 year old organization and is spread across 22 states in India. They take care of around 7200 underprivileged and homeless children. SOS Children’s Villages of India has a unique concept of dedicated foster mothers to raise the kids. They ensure that the nutrition, education and overall growth and development of kids is being taken care of.

The kids at SOS Children’s Villages of India had made some wishes for Christmas this year. And SPAR has taken up the initiative – “#SeasonofJoy – GIFT A WISH”, to make the wishes of these kids come true. They are collecting gifts for each of the 7200 children at every SPAR store across India. This initiative will go on until 25^th of December.

A customer has to purchase a gift or gifts at SPAR, bill it and drop it in the Wish Box. The gifts come with heavy discounts so that every customer can buy it easily. They start from as low as INR 15/-. The gift items include set of pencils, books, color pens, pencil boxes, games like Chess boards and Ludo, tiffin boxes, etc. Basically, these are small wishes that the children at SOS Children’s Villages of India had made. You can check the gifts on their online store too. SPAR is also going to give 1% of the value of any SPAR private label products as soon as it is being purchased by any customer, for the welfare of SOS children’s village.

I did some grocery shopping and headed to the GIFT A WISH booth at SPAR. It was beautifully decorated around the Christmas theme. A Christmas tree was put up with some Gift A Wish cards. I picked up a card, purchased the gifts, dropped it in the big red wish box and also rang the bell with lot of happiness and satisfaction in my heart.

I have already done my part for this Christmas – this #SeasonofJoy. And I am super happy and excited to bring a smile on the faces of a few at the SOS Children’s Villages in India.

It is that time of the year when people gift each other, and wishes are made true. It is that time of the year when people are happy. Yes! It is Christmas & New Year time – the #SeasonofJoy time. During this season we all do big donations to charities. It would be great if each of us could donate a small gift at SPAR and make a child happy at the SOS Children’s Village India.
