Sundayโ€™s are normally meant to relax after a tiring week and to rejuvenate and get ready to face the challenges in the upcoming week. Last Sunday we were planning to eat out as I was too lazy to get up early and to cook something for the family. We decided to eat out and chose to visit Royal Orchid, HAL, Old Airport Road, Bangaloreย for a Sparkling Sunday brunch.

ROyal Orchid

We received a warm welcome at Royal Orchid and selected a place in the coffee shop named Limelight. Limelight is a trendy chic coffee shop which is an all-day dining destination and remains open round-the-clock. It serves Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisines.

We chose a table for 4 in a cozy corner of Limelight. Soon after setting down, we ordered fresh lime soda and orange juice for the little one.

You can even choose the outdoor seatingย overlooking the lush lawns and the shikari tents.

Soon the starters were served at the table. Different types of starters like veg and non-veg dim sums, veg starters and non-veg kebabs were served.

Dim Sum

The kebabs like Tunde kebab (patty made with mutton mince), Bandipur Hara kebab, Lasooni chicken kebab and murg tikka kebab were served from Tiger Trail Restaurant which is popular for Awadhi cuisine.

Their brunch menu includes an array of starters, various live counters for tandoori items, appam, chaat, pav bhaji, tawa items and more. I loved aloo tikki chaat. You can order any type of chaat at the chaat counter.

There are live counters for dishes made on tawa like pav bhaji, Mongolian rice and noodles.

Appam was served with chicken/veg stew. I tasted appam with chicken stew and loved it.

Oh, there was a salad counter too with different types of dressings.

For main course they had both Indian and Continental cuisines. Dishes like daal, palak paneer, mutton and vegetarian biryanis, dal makhani, pastas, noodles and more were present.

Buffet

I also ordered a strawberry milkshake and it was refreshing.

We also got to taste some signature rotis like Merut roti and Kandhari rotis. I loved the Merut roti which is also known as biskoot. Kandhari roti was made with dry fruits.

They also served their special rotis like Taftan, Tashkent Naan, Chironji Naan and Ajwani Naan. Taftan is leavened flour bread with sweetened milk and flavored with saffron and topped with poppy seeds. Tashkent Naan was yeast leavened dough with yogurt slow baked in clay oven. Chironji Naan is naan sprinkled with chironji seeds and baked. Ajwani Naan is leavened flour dough bread with milk and egg seasoned with carom seeds and baked.

They have a live pizza counter where they bake these classic wood-fired pizzas. You can customize the pizza with toppings of your choice.

Pizza

We had a veg pizza, which was crispy and delicious.

After the meal there were desserts like Gajar ka Halwa, Shahi Tukda, cakes, tarts and mousse. They also have a choice of sugar free and eggless desserts.

Desserts

There was a dessert counter meant especially for the kids and had variety of delicacies like attractive muffins, cake pops, jellies and more.

Kids Desserts

They have a bar counter too where they serve alcoholic beverages, wines, cocktails and mocktails where one can relax with friends.

Bar

One of the main attractions of this Sunday brunch is the huge open play area for kids. The couples can relax worry free while the kids enjoy freely. The open play area has 2 gazebos.

In one of the gazebos, kidsโ€™ activities like face painting, tattoos and crafts were being conducted which kept the kids busy and engrossed. The 2nd gazebo was open for guests.

There was a trampoline too. Though the net was missing, the kids had a lovely time.

My daughter enjoyed herself to the fullest.

She also made some new friends there. My hubby and I got to spend some time together too. Overall the day was well spent.

I would conclude by saying that, if you want to relax on a Sunday, just head on for a Sunday brunch at Royal Orchid, HAL and have a great time.
