Chatpata Baby Potatoes | Stir Fried Baby Potatoes

Chatpata baby potatoes or chatpate aloo is a baby potato recipe in which the baby potatoes are marinated with spices and stir fried. The baby potato starter recipe is tangy and spicy and hence the name chatpata. This chatpata aloo can be served as starters or snacks.

Stir fried tangy and spicy or chatpata baby potatoes makes a yummy and delicious starter in the vegetarian menu. This baby potatoes recipe is very easy to cook and is a winner for any occasion. This baby potato recipe can also be packed in the lunch box.

Consumption of potatoes aids bone health, manages blood pressure, maintains heart health and helps in weight management. They are rich in vitamin C and hence they are good for skin and for overall health.

These masala baby potatoes can be served with pulao or jeera rice as a side dish. You can even serve it as a starter with pudina chutney.

  • Potatoes: Baby potato recipe is used in making chatpata masaledar aloo recipe.
  • Spices: Red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and amchur powder are the spice powders used in making this delicious tangy and spicy baby potato recipe.
  • Ginger and garlic: Ginger and garlic paste is also used in making this delicious baby potato recipe.
  • Lemon juice: Lemon juice is added to make the recipe tangy.
  • Curry leaves: Curry leaves are added to provide an earthy flavour to the baby potato recipe.
  • Oil: Any type of vegetable oil can be used in making this delicious recipe.

How to cook chatpata baby potato?

  • Wondering how long to boil baby potatoes? Just boil them in enough water for 20 minutes. You can even wash, and pressure cook the baby potatoes. Drain the water. After cooling, peel the baby potatoes.
  • In a mixing bowl, add the spice powders namely chili powder, turmeric powder, amchur, garam masala, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, salt and 2 tablespoon oil and mix well.
  • Apply this paste to the baby potatoes and let it marinate for 30 minutes. If you marinate for longer time, keep it in fridge.
  • Heat a kadai, add 2 tablespoon oil. When oil gets heated, add curry leaves and fry.
  • Add the marinated baby potatoes and stir fry them for 10 minutes.
  • Adjust salt to taste, also remember that we had already added salt while marinating, so add salt carefully.

Ingredients

  • 25 baby potatoes
  • 2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoon amchur powder
  • 4 teaspoon garam masala
  • 4 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon ginger garlic paste
  • 20 curry leaves
  • To taste salt

Instructions

  • Wash and pressure cook the baby potatoes. Drain the water. After cooling, peel them.
