Times City – Gourmet Week And Szechwan Court @ The Oberoi

July 16, 2013 by Raksha Kamat

I had seen a lot of advertisement’s on The Internet that TimesCity is organizing the Gourmet week from 15th -21st July 2013. I was waiting for this event as me being a foodie, I am very much passionate about food and I love to try out different types of cuisines at different restaurants. Times City has provided this opportunity for all food enthusiasts around to try the food at different restaurants of their choice. This event is going on in three cities (Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai) where Times City has tied up with the finest award winning restaurants and offer the participant the best of best cuisine from these establishments at an affordable price. This is a fixed menu which you can get to try out at a reasonable price. They provide you with an eclectic tasting menu, offering culinary tidbits along the way .

As a part of this mega gastronomic event I thought of trying the special ‘Gourmet Week’ 15th-21st July 2013 menu. Quickly I went to their website and since I love the Chinese cuisine, I zeroed upon “Szechwan Court” at The Oberoi. This was nominated for theย #timesfoodawards13.ย A 5 star hotel which is centrally located on the Bangalore’s busy M G Road.
I pulled along with me, my best friend and decided to visit this place for dinner. As soon as we entered this place, we were greeted by the courteous staff at The Oberoi. We were then escorted to Szechwan Court. We were given a warm welcome at there. The ambiance was soothing. The lighting was not too bright and the music was soft.

We were asked to choose a table of our choice. As soon as we got a table, we were presented with a special menu for the Gourmet Week. We were welcomed with Homemade Ginger Rail. This is their Signature drink which has the flavors of ginger, mint and lemon.

Soon after this we were served with a cold salad – Kimchi Salad. This salad is known to make you feel more hungry as you eat it.

Then we started with the appetizers. We were served with Vegetable Spring Roll and Salt and Pepper Vegetables. Both of these dishes were too good. The salt and pepper vegetables is what we liked the most. Jasmine Tea was served to us at the table. This tea had a mild flavor of Jasmine. This is the first time that I liked this Jasmine Tea. It was nicely brewed.

All the time the staff made us feel special. Soon after the appetizers we were served with the main course. We were served with Stir fried greens with roasted garlic and Braised tofu with in black bean sauce. One of the staff member was too polite to explain to us how the Stir fried greens were cooked. They were neither raw nor over cooked, yet they retained the freshness and the crunchiness of the vegetable.

For accompaniments we were served with Vegetable soft noodles and Steamed rice. Each of these dishes were extremely tasty and they had a unique flavor.

For desserts, my friend opted for Chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. Chocolate brownie is my friends all time favorite and I opted for homemade litchi ice cream.

Me and my friend had a wonderful evening at Szechwan Court. Each and every dish that was served to us was really good and up to our expectations. The food, the ambiance and the polite staff retained what one could expect from 5-star restaurants. Special thanks to Mr. Rishi who took special efforts in explaining to us about the menu and for providing a wonderful service.

The lunch menu( both veg and non-veg) is priced at Rs. 1000 and the dinner for Rs. 1200/-. I feel the price for the food was up to the mark considering the taste, quality of food, ambiance and service. It was very much affordable as promised by #timescity. Szechwan Court at The Oberoi is a perfect place to go out with your loved one. So friends, consider this event a wonderful opportunity to try out food from the restaurant which you always wanted to go to.

The much anticipated, week-long event is an open invitation to eat and be merry, while immersing oneself in the rich and diverse culinary culture.

I really love THE PINK POPPADOM because of its unique pink ambience. The place is nicely decorated. The food is mouth watering which left my taste-buds tingling. A good place to host a team event too.

    I love ” Goa Portuguesa “
I am a frequent visitor of this place and simply love the food. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes. The owner is a very friendly person and we love his hospitality and the way he mingles with everyone joking around and creating a homely atmosphere. The service is excellent. Most of my foreign guests whom I entertained here were also impressed.

Its SMOKE HOUSE DELI for me .The ambience is very warm and inviting And oh, the dessert rack is a feast to eyes.I am a die hard burger fan and their burgers are truly a delight, packed with flavours and the cheese they use is fantastic too.Now coming to desserts, the Flourless Chocolate Fudge is literally to die for.The rest of the menu also looks interesting and needs to be tested further
