Skylit RoofTop Restaurant At Citrus Hotel, Cunningham Road, Bengaluru – A Restaurant Review

Iย hadย been to Skylit rooftop restaurant at Citrus Hotel for dinner with my family. This restaurant is located in the heart of the city at Cunningham Road, Bangalore. I think this is the only restaurant in Bengaluru which serves 16 varieties of unlimited starters and a very decent buffet at a reasonable price. This restaurant is open in the evenings and evenings are the perfect time to enjoy the romantic candle light ambiance. Read on to know more.
Ambiance:
As soon as I entered the rooftop restaurant, I was impressed with the ambiance. It was perfect for a romantic candle light evening. The view from the top was beautiful. ย The evening was pleasant and the blue decor made the setup look really romantic. Any one with a bad mood or who is feeling low can immediately feel good if they see have dinner with their better half or romantic partner at this place. A perfect place to celebrate anniversaries or romantic dates, the newly opened Skylit rooftop restaurant is bound to win hearts.
There are 3 sitting areas – one is inside where the buffet is served, one is near the bar area where the large LCD TVs are placed and one is on the terrace. There are high chairs too and you can select any table of your choice.
They have catered to all the needs. People who want to enjoy drinks and sports can ask for a place near the LCD screens and can also enjoy the drinks at the bar.
We selected the romantic area on the terrace and had an awesome time.
There is an open kitchen where they make kebabs and continental grills and barbecues from all over the world. .
Service:
The service was good and the hospitality provided by them was perfect. The starters were served with a smile from the platter to our plates. We had to go and help ourselves with the main course and desserts after we were done with the starters. They just took a lot of time to get naans and rotis for us. These never arrived at our table probably due to the rush at the restaurant.
Food:
Soon after we got our seats, we were presented with a blue colored fizzy non-alcoholic welcome drink and a bread basket was placed on the table. The kids had a great time munching those breads and passing their time while we awaited for the starters. We were served with 16 different types of starters- 8 vegetarian and 8 non-vegetarian.
The various starters were Peshawari Paneer, Chamman Ka Seekh, Aloo Pudina Tikki, Gilafi Tandoori Aloo, Mexican Grilled Veg, Veg Polenta, Cottage Cheese Saltier and Veg Fajitas in the vegetarian section and Lal Mirch ki Tangdi, Chakundri Murg, Mutton Seekh, Sarsowali Macchi, Lamb Chop in pepper sauce, Jalapeno Cheese Fish, Barbeque Garlic Squids and BBQ Chicken. These were the 16 types of starters. Though 16 varieties of unlimited servings of starters.

In between we felt thirsty and so we ordered fresh lime juice and orange juice. Just loved the way they served.

Though I am a non-vegetarian, I loved the vegetarian starters more compared to the non-vegetarian. The Gilafi Tandoori Aloo was simply out of the world and Aloo Pudina Tikki was delicious. ย It had the minty cheesy flavour.ย Pechawari Paneer was also delicious and left me wanting for more. I wish they had some mushroom starters too.

In the non-veg there were variety of fish, chicken and lamb kebabs. However prawns were a huge miss here. If they have grilled/barbecued prawns on their menu, they can be a big competition for similar restaurants which serve unlimited starters and a huge buffet.
Lal Mirch Ki Tangdi
Besides unlimited kebabs and ย grills, there was a decent buffet with Thai Noodle soup and some rare and unique gravy dishes like Ghost Khada Masalaย (non-veg), Kesariย Paneer(veg), Subz Lababdarย (veg), Dal Makhani (veg), Szechwan Noodles, Exotic vegetables in Peanut Sauce and Veg and chicken biryanis and some salads.
Dal Makhani is my all time favorite and it was well-prepared with butter and lentils in a rich tomato gravy. The taste was perfect and comforting. Kesari Paneer was unique and good. Szechwan Noodles too were well prepared. Biryani was slightly average but it was not bad too. The types of salads were neither too much nor too less.
There were some some delicious desserts like Plum Pudding, Litchi Pastry, Basbousa, Mango Barfi, Champakali, Gajar Halwa, Ice-cream and fresh cut fruits.
Gajar Halwa was delicious among the desserts and I had to help myself with another serving of the same. Rest of the desserts were of average types.
Cost of meal for two: Rs. 1500/-
