Food Walk Through The Streets Of Lucknow

The famous City of Nawabs and the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow is situated on the banks of Gomti River. The city is a major center of culture with many things that are special and exclusive to Lucknow. The region has a distinct cuisine which predominantly features non-vegetarian dishes. The city is famous for the food and apart from the non-vegetarian dishes, there are a lot of vegetarian dishes on offer too.

The food on offer in Lucknow is available online as well. There are a lot of delivery options to choose from. You can enjoy authentic nawabi cuisine in the comfort of your home. We have compiled a list of some of the most famous and renowned outlets that are famous for the specialties that they serve.

Idrees Biryani

Seeped in the tradition that was set by their forefathers, the folks at Idrees Biryani make sure that they serve a piece of heaven in every bite. They cook their biryani in dried mud ovens which enhanced the taste furthermore. It is a very shanty place that is situated in the historic chowk region of Lucknow which has many other such famous biryani outlets. Apart from the special biryani pulao that they serve, they also have in their menu other dishes such as Mutton Stew, Korma and Nihari. However, the major feature of the outlet is the biryani which is being served there from 1968.

Tunday Kababi

Situated in the Chowk and Aminabad area of Lucknow, Tunday Kababi has a rich history of serving the best kababs. These minced meat delicacies were first served to the Nawab of Lucknow in 1905 and have become quite a popular name in India. The Galauti kebabs are one of their specialties and are the most popular item on their menu. The Chowk outlet is the original and most famous one and it only serves kebabs and parathas while the Aminabad outlet serves different items that range from kebabs to curries.

Sharma Tea Stall

With only 6 items on their menu, this famous tea stall in Lucknowโ€™s Lalbagh area is around 70 years old. Managed by the kins of the founder the Sharma Tea Stall sees a footfall of a hundred every day. This famous joint is haunted by people of all ages. The older people come here for their leisure time and discuss issues ranging from politics to cricket while sipping on a hot cup of special Sharma Chai. The younger ones flock here in the morning for their daily fix of tea. They serve the famous tea in three types of glasses- kulhad, thermocol and tea glass.

Prakash Kulfi

Kulfi is one of the most famous desserts and was brought to India by Mughals. The famous Prakash Kulfi located in the Aminabad area in Lucknow serves you authentic kulfi reminiscent of the Mughal days. They store these kulfis in earthen pots full of shards of ice. They take the slab of kulfi and fill it up with boiled vermicelli that is cooled and mixed with saffron. It is then topped with rosewater and the creamy kulfi is then all set to be served. It is situated at a walking distance from the Aminabad outlet of Tunday Kababi and makes for a perfect dessert after a wholesome meal.

Dastarkhwan

Traditionally the meaning of the term Dastarkhwan means the place where the full family sits down to eat together. There are a lot of eating joints clustered together that offer various dishes but the original nawabi cuisine experience is offered by the outlet which goes by the name of Dastarkhwan. They offer tasty chicken masala and delicious kebabs while having options for vegetarians as well. The food on offer there is also available to order online and can be ordered with any of the major delivery services available there.

Lucknow is a hub of tasty dishes. The biryani served in Lucknow can also claim to be the inspiration for famous Kolkata biryani barring the potatoes in it. There is a lot of history attached to each morsel that you eat. The food there is meant to be savored and rightly so. The eateries there do justice to the much famous Awadhi cuisine which is wholesome and appetizing.
