Bakasur, Whitefield โ€“ A Restaurant Review

Last weekend I was feeling too lazy to cook something. So we decided to go out for dinner. My hubby did not want to drive too far and suggested that we go to a place close to our house. I logged in to askme.com and searched for a restaurant in Whitefield, Bangalore. Immediately there was a listing of restaurants close by. We zeroed on Bakasur as they have buffet dinner. Hubby wanted to visit this place as he had heard a lot of good reviews about the place.

I tried to call them on the phone number mentioned on their website to book a table for 3 as it is recommended to book a table here to avoid waiting time. But no one responded to the call. So, without any delay we decided to go there early. We reached there by 7.45 PM and were happy to get a table for 3.

The restaurant is located in Park Ascended Mall in Whitefield. At the entrance of the restaurant is a big picture of a demon whom they call Bakasur. The staff greeted us with a smile and provided us a table for 3 as there was a small kid with us.
We then went around and had a look at the buffet thinking about what to start eating first. The spread was vast comprising of veg and non-veg salads, chats, snacks, kebabs, grilled veges, variety of veg and non-veg curries, dishes with fish like seer fish and crabs, biryani, pulao and desserts.
The sweet corn soup shot was served at the table and we were also served with complimentary drinks like coke and sprite.

I started with some salads. The salads were good. I tasted the jerk grilled chicken salad which was good, veg pasta and okra chatpata salad were just fine. Egg & creamy mashed yolk looked like an innovation. Spicy fish in orange chilly dressing was just fine.

The ambiance at Bakasur was good, but the place where we were seated was dimly lit. The restaurant has various sections and they also have a private dinning area where a big group can be accommodated. The other area was well lit, but they were for larger groups.

Ambiance: Private Dining Area, Bar, Table For 4

The place where we were seated was slightly hot as the AC was not functioning properly and it was close to the live cooking stations.  There were  some live cooking counters which made dosas, chats, pav bhaji and kebabs.

We then took some BBQ grilled prawns and chicken kebabs which were awesome. I loved these as they were cooked to perfection and the taste was mind-blowing.

The veg kebabs consisted of grilled okra, grilled cauliflower, baby potatoes and grilled marinated paneer. The taste of these were awesome too.

The chats were delicious, we asked the staff to get pani-puri at our table and they happily served us with pani-puri in spicy pani. The dahi vadas were perfect too.

We then went to have the main course, my hubby had a coin paratha and chicken kheema and he devoured this. I tried the Andhra style seer fish curry, the curry was extremely spice as Andhra food is spicy and tasty, but the fish was not fresh.
Chicken Kheema

The chilli crab curry was over before we even tasted it. It really looked yummy and I think I will have to visit the place again to eat this yummy dish.

The hotel staff were refilling the other dishes immediately I tried the chicken and wings and these were upto my taste buds expectations ๐Ÿ™‚

Shanghi Vegetable Wok N Tok

The veg curries looked good, but I was feeling too full to try those out. I still took a bit of dal makhani with veg pulao. I love dal makhani and it was made perfectly at the restaurant. I am sure the other veg dishes were good.

Butter Paneer Khate Piyaz

The desserts consisted of a lot of dishes like swaya kheer, pineapple kesari, cheesecake, julab jamum, cut fruits and ice-creams.

My kid had some ice-creams but I thoroughly enjoyed eating kulfi.

We had a nice time at the restaurant and at the end of the day we felt like real Bakasurโ€™s ๐Ÿ˜‰

So if you are dieting, then this restaurant gives you a reason to stop dieting.

My Verdict: Value for money for good food.
