Shallow Fried Semolina Coated Potato | Rava Fried Potato

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sized potatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 tablespoon oil for shallow frying

For the coating:

  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 4 tablespoon rava / sooji / semolina
  • To taste Salt

Instructions

  • Wash and peel the potato with a vegetable peeler.
  • Slice the potatoes into thick slices (around 1/8th inch thickness).
  • Soak the slices in water for 20 minutes for the starch to get away.
  • After 20 minutes, drain the water and apply 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon turmeric power and 1/4 teaspoon salt to marinate the slices of potato.
  • Mix the ingredients meant for coating and keep it aside.
  • Heat a frying pan and spread 2 tablespoon oil or as needed.
  • Coat the marinated potato in rava and spread them on the frying pan.
  • Spread 2 tablespoon oil on top of these and shallow fry for 10 minutes on both sides.
