I’m all for getting a leg up to achieve something, and in this case, a nifty hand out. Discounts, buy 1 get 1 free, extra % off and coupons are right up my alley. Some prices are so ridiculous for items that you just have to laugh, so any money that can stay safely in my wallet due to a coupon ticket is a plus for me.

Some people are embarrassed to go into a venue or shop with a coupon, why? Would you rather keep your pride and pay more than you want? Is it about saving face? Not me, I’m all about saving money. I have a family to support, and if I can stretch any finance, I’m on it.

What is a Coupon?

Essentially it is a piece of paper, either individually printed or torn out of a coupon book, that allows us not to cry every time we want to go shopping.

It states that whoever has this paper is entitled to save their hard-earned money and get a certain percentage off of a product they wish to purchase.

There are also coupons that you can find in newspapers or magazines that you have to fill out the application attached to the discount slip and send off for an item. Either way, keeping you financially afloat.

Purpose of a coupon

When you are looking at the more technical side of things and in your business the marketing strategy, to promote specials and new products, retailers will entice consumers with discount tickets and price cuts to increase foot traffic.

Usually, once they have the product in-store, there is the possibility of added revenue from extra items purchased at the same time, thus coupons allow for a higher conversion rate. And who doesn’t love a good old bargain?

How do store coupons work?

Once you’ve read your Sunday newspaper from front to back and it’s now old news, you can usually cut out coupons in a specific section to use in a store as cash. The value and image of the item are printed on the ticket, with t’s & c’s in the world’s smallest print on the back, and this can be redeemed in-store whilst shopping.

Then at the cashiers’ desk, you can pay with cash and these coupons together which the till operator enters as a cash value.

Grannies are big fans of a coupon, I think they also like the excitement of buying but not actually using money, how funny. But they do tend to go over-board and you end up standing in line behind them with 2 items for half an hour while they dig them out the bottom of their bag.

Food Coupons

You might think handing over a voucher when it comes to paying a bill in a restaurant is tacky-town, but you are no different as if you were to dine on a specific day say Monday which is 2 for 1 burger night. The only difference is they voucher is already on the bill.

As a mom with a husband and kids who eat like horses, I look for a place that allows me to treat them but not kill me. If that’s you, then check out Coupondad.net for a helping hand when it comes to caring for your pack of wolves.

3 Advantages of Using a coupon.

  • This is the obvious choice and by doing so you could buy extra items you would normally have had to leave.
  • Luxury. Certain products are lovely but you just don’t have the budget to waste on things that are considered a luxury and not ‘needed.’ Coupons allow you to treat yourself once in a while to something pretty.
  • Expiry Dates. Because the discount is usually only valid for an extended period it’s good to plan your big grocery shop accordingly and get the usual amount for less money.

There are many great reasons and ways to save cash, click here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQNj7BSkhAc for a helpful guide into getting started and how to make it work for you. Less financial stress leads to a happier life anyways.

So, get cutting, get saving and throw a little something extra in for the hubby.
